Ideas to Build kids Playhouses

Summer is almost over, and the temperatures are cooling off. Before we hit winter proper, there’s still time for one last project. Why not build a kid’s playhouse from scratch? It’s a lot easier than you think.

Leftovers Materials

The best thing you can do before you start the project, aside from drawing out the plans, is to scavenge your property for leftover materials. Roof shingles from your recent repair, tiles from a remodel, and left over fabrics from other household projects are all great ideas to make your play house look amazing. You can even repurpose old doors, with a new door knob. Your kids will think they have a real house by the time you’re finished.

Outdoor Preparations

Make sure that all of the materials you use are suitable for the outdoors. Wood should be rated for outdoor use, and it’s a good idea to employ some water sealer on the materials you use. You should also consider investing in some windows. It depends on the kind of quality you will want in the final product, but windows will help keep moisture out of the house. Also make sure that you choose a level patch of ground with a small slope for drainage.

Final Touches

Curtains and furniture are the elements of style and color that will make the house shine. This will also be your kids favorite part, so be sure to invite them inside and listen to their ideas. Offer some suggestions, and most importantly, have fun.
